Best Practices

For the best experience, please confirm that you’re using the following 7 Best Practices.

NOTE: Having your auto-lock screen set to 15 minutes has been the most helpful practice we’ve seen this year to improve the experience with the 95 RAP App.

1. Use the Latest Version of the App

We’re continually adding new features and fixes. Use the following solution articles to ensure you’re using the latest version of the 95 RAP App:

2. Use Installed Mode (Teacher and Student Devices)

95 RAP app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) and can be installed for the best experience. Installing the 95 RAP Web App on devices creates an app icon/shortcut on the home screen and provides a more app-like experience for teacher and students.

3. Explicitly Permit Our Website

Ask your tech staff to explicitly permit https://rap.one95.app through the school's firewall, web filter, or MDM. The 95 RAP app uses http, https, and ICMP (ping). For more information, they can refer to our Tech Specs

4. Prevent the iPads from going to sleep (iPad only)

It will cause problems if the screen is engaging Auto-lock (going to sleep) during the instructional session. This can sometimes cause connection errors that lead to a poor classroom experience. We can mitigate this by changing the time it takes the screen to lock when not in use.

Increase Auto-Lock Timer (iPad only)

  • On your iPad open the Settings app and select Display & Brightness on the left-hand side.

  • Select Auto-Lock and increase the timer from 2 minutes (default) to 15 minutes.

Please note that this will increase the time the device takes before it turns off the screen, which may affect battery life.

Low Power Mode (iPad only)

On iPad and iPhone, do not use low power mode. It limits the functionality of the device and prevents from working properly with the app. If you iPad has low charge, plug it in until charged and check settings to turn off lower power mode.

5. Change Reduced Motion Settings (iPad only)

In Settings>Accessibility>Turn on Reduce Motion and Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions.

If turning Reduce Motion and Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions are already on, try turning them on. There are reports that this causes changes in the keyboard and menu behavior. More details instructions: Customize iPad for motion sensitivities - Apple Support

6. Guided Access for Student Devices (iPad only)

Guided Access can solve two common issues teachers encounter:

  • Student’s 95 RAP Web App is closed or disconnecting, it may be due to a student leaving or reloading the app on their iPads.

  • You see excessive zooming in and out on the student screen. Guided Access will prevent the student from leaving the 95 RAP Web App or using the zoom feature

7. Kiosk Mode for easy launching app on student Chromebook (Chromebook Only)

  • The 95 RAP app can be launched from the Chromebook with a shortcut or icon for younger students and students having problems logging in. To launch the 95 RAP app, talk to your tech staff enabling Kiosk mode for the 95 RAP Web App on your students' Chromebooks.
