Remove Gray Shape From the iPad Screen When in Guided Access

Modified on Fri, 1 Nov, 2024 at 4:40 PM

Sometimes a gray object will appear on an iPad screen when it is put into Guided Access mode.

When putting a device into Guided Access mode, there is an option to "set certain areas of the screen to be disabled." If the screen is touched accidentally when putting the iPad into Guided Access you could identify some areas of the screen to be disabled, which are represented by a gray object.

To remove the gray object:
  1. Put the iPad in Guided Access
  2. Bring the iPad out of Guided Access. *Before you choose "End" or "Resume" take note that the gray object on your screen now has a white circle with an "x" on its outline (see image below)
  3. Click that "x" and the object should disappear
