1. To begin the spelling component, select Spelling from the menu on the left.
2. The gear icon allows the teacher to see student settings.
3. You can see assessment status, adjust paper size, input format, and paper background.
4. Select the pencil icon to the right of the student's name to view or change any information.
5. View mastered, current, and upcoming lists in the scope and sequence. Select the down arrow to preview word lists.
6. The teacher has the option to Skip, Reset, or Set as Baseline List.
7. To exit the student's information, select the X in the upper right corner of the pop-up.
8. To begin the Spelling component, select Start Spelling.
9. By selecting the student's name, you are able to view list information.
10. Select the X to close the pop-up.
11. Students will begin with Oral Spelling (Break and Spell). Directions for Break and Spell are provided. Dictate the word to the student to break and spell.
12. Once the student has orally spelled the word, select Next and then select the next student on the right side of the screen.
13. Dictate the word to the student and have them break and spell the word.
14. Select Next and go on to the next student. After three rounds of break and spell, the group will progress to written spelling.
15. Once students have progressed to Written Spelling, teachers have the ability to adjust any settings necessary by selecting the gear icon.
16. This allows you to see assessment status, adjust paper size, input format, or background. Select Close to exit the pop-up.
17. STUDENT SCREEN - Once the teacher dictates the word to the student, the student writes or types the word on the lines.
18. Students have the ability to select the circular back arrow to undo any markings.
19. To clear the screen of all markings, the student may select the trashcan icon.
20. They will be prompted to clear drawing by selecting Yes or No.
21. Once the student is satisfied with their response, they select submit to send the response to the teacher device.
22. TEACHER SCREEN - The red dot by the student's name indicates that there is a response to grade. The teacher grades the student response with check, h, or dot.
23. The teacher then selects Submit to grade the response.
24. The teacher has the ability to skip an item to move onto the next.
25. If a student misspells a word, the teacher marks it with a dot and selects Submit. This will alert the student that they have errors to correct.
26. STUDENT SCREEN - The student will write any misspelled words correctly three times.
27. The student must select the down arrow to write the word again.
28. Once the student writes the word correctly three times, they must select Submit to send to the teacher for grading.
29. TEACHER SCREEN - The teacher grades the student response and selects Submit.
30. The teacher also has the option to send a word back. Here, a teacher may ask the student to use the paper guidelines to write the letter o appropriately.
31. STUDENT SCREEN - If a word is sent back, the student uses the trashcan icon to remove the misspelled word and rewrite it correctly.
32. Once the student uses proper letter formation, they may select Submit for grading.
33. TEACHER SCREEN - The teacher then grades the response.
34. The number beside the student's name indicates the number of words spelled.
35. When the teacher is ready to end the Spelling component, select Save & Exit.
36. The teacher will be prompted to select Yes or No before they fully exit the spelling component.
37. At the end of the component, all items introduced during that session will display on the teacher and student screen. The teacher can scroll right and left to view each student's list.
38. Optional: The teacher can assign three words for homework to write on notebook paper.
39. Once any misspelled words have been reviewed, select Save & Exit to return to the student management screen.
40. SPELLING ASSESSMENT
41. Assessment will be on by default when you begin a class. To start the assessment, select Start Spelling.
42. A yellow bar across the top of the teacher screen indicates that students are in assessment. Otherwise, the operation of the app for assessment is the same as instruction.
43. Teachers can select the gear icon to see or adjust student settings.
44. Assessment status is shown, teacher can also adjust paper size, input format, or background.
45. The teacher dictates the letter, sound, or word to the student.
46. STUDENT SCREEN - The student writes the word dictated by the teacher and selects Submit. Notice, there is no yellow bar across the student screen for assessment.
47. TEACHER SCREEN - The teacher has the option to send back, skip item, or grade and submit student response.
48. As assessment continues, the teacher dictates the word, the student writes the word and submits for grading, and the teacher grades the response accordingly.
49. When the teacher is ready to end the session, select Save & Exit.
50. Student results will appear. If assessment has not been completed, it will resume where it left off in the next session. Assessment will end automatically and start instruction once the student's skill level has been identified.
51. Select Save & Exit to return to the student management screen.
