If you're having connection issues with the 95 RAP Web App, complete the following 6 steps to resolve your issue.ue
1. All devices (teacher & student) running the latest version of the app
We’re continually making improvements to the app. Below are solution articles to confirm you’re running the latest version of the app, and instructions to manually update the app.
- Latest Version of 95 RAP™ App (Version Number & Release Notes)
- Checking and Updating 95 RAP™ App Version
2. Prevent network hopping
Devices hop to different networks to find a better signal. This network hopping can produce connection problems.
To prevent network hopping complete BOTH of the following steps:
- Forget all networks except for the network you want the device connected to
- On iPads:
- Settings > WiFi menu > tap the “i” icon to the right of the network name
- Select “Forget"
- If there is no “Forget” option, skip this step
- Other devices:
- Settings > Network & internet > WiFi > Manage known networks
- Select “Forget”
- On iPads:
- Prevent devices from joining other networks (iPad only)
- iPads:
- Settings > WiFi menu > select “Ask to Join” and set to “Yes” or to “Ask” depending on the version of iOS
- iPads:
Special Note: Make sure these steps are also taken for phone hotspots.
3. Firewall and Web Filtering
The 95 RAP URL (https://rap.one95.app) must be explicitly allowed through the firewall, web filter, or MDM. The 95 RAP web app uses http, https, and ICMP (ping).
- Each device may also need to download, install, and trust their school system's Zscaler certificate
4. Confirm your Wireless Access Point (WAP) isn’t overloaded
If there are too many devices connected to your WAP, you’ll need to add additional WAPs or use load balancing on the WAP. Also, Quality of Service will prioritize the small amount of 95 RAP Web App traffic and allow the connection and expected performance.
5. Try a new location
Devices can receive from a much further distance than they can transmit. Even if you are in a location with a strong signal (if the WAP is in the classroom than this is probably not the issue), the device might be trying to transmit at a distance that is too far. As a troubleshooting step, try to start a 95 RAP session and connect student devices in a different location.
6. Try a cellular hotspot
In the situation/location when the app fails to connect, use a cellular wireless hotspot to test the connection to determine if your device(s) can connect successfully off the school network. If a hotspot is available, this can be a way to troubleshoot if an issue is related to the 95 RAP Web App or the network and device configuration.
